Romanian winery Cramele Recas is to launch the first orange-coloured variant for its Sole label.
From early April, 7,500 limited-edition bottles will be available from distributor Copestick Murray. Offering nutty notes and a crisp texture, the tipple is made from white grapes left to ferment with their skins on, which leads to an orange hue (rsp: £11/750ml).
The style was “increasingly popular within certain circles in the wine world,” said Philip Cox, Cramele Recaș commercial director. “This winemaking philosophy will continue to gain momentum and, indeed plaudits, in the coming months” .
The 18-year-old winery is Romania’s biggest exporter of bottled wine, selling more than two million bottles a year in the UK.
