One of the UK’s most respected wine bottlers, Darlington Wines, has joined forces with one of South Africa’s major buyers of bulk wines to create an extensive new range for the UK. Darlington started out as a bag in box producer and has since added bottling lines to meet the demands of the trade. This latest link up should create one of the most comprehensive collections of SA wines in the business. It is the result of a partnership with Boland Wines of Paarl which has access to a selection of varietal blends produced by a number of winemakers. These will either be bottled at source or by Darlington’s sister company Corby Bottlers. The first two wines will carry the Pieter’s Drift brand name. They will be dual varietals, a Colombard Chardonnay and a Cinsaut Ruby Cabernet, both made by Philip Jordaan at the Du Toitskloof cellars. They have been filled and packaged by Corby using a synthetic closure. MD Patrick Darlington said: “Quality is of paramount importance and our partnership with Boland Wines will allow us to select the best modern New World wines from a variety of sources. Pieter’s Drift is the first in a number of new South Africans that will be introduced to the UK in the next few months.” {{DRINKS }}
