Ferrero is adding flavour-changing sweets to its Tic Tac confectionery mix.
Rolling out this month, Tic Tac Mixers will be available in 18g and 48g formats in two variants - Cherry Cola and Peach Lemonade – that melt in the mouth from a “sweet fruit layer into a sparkling secondary flavour”.
The first Tic Tac flavour-change products to launch in the UK, Mixers have also recently rolled out in Italy and the US. The launch comes as sales of the Tic Tac brand have grown 11% year on year to £25m [Nielsen 52w/e 9 May 2015].
Describing the move as “ground-breaking” for the brand, Ferrero customer development director Levi Boorer added: “Our research shows nearly two thirds of existing Tic Tac consumers will buy Mixers in addition to the core range, providing a powerful incremental sales opportunity.”
Mixers arrive in the UK just over two years after Wrigley rolled out flavour-changing Starburst Flavour Morphs from and Perfetti Van Melle unveiled Fruit-tella Magics. While Magics are still sold in the UK, Flavour Morphs were discontinued at the end of last year.
Ferrero added it was confident the support it was giving Mixers would make them a success. It will be backed with a £1.3m marketing campaign including TV, social media and sampling, and POS material such as countertop and free-standing display units.
