First Milk's procurement arm First Milk Direct has agreed a tie-up with Anglia Farmers in a move aimed at reducing input costs.
Anglia Farmers will administrate and extend a number of the services First Milk Direct offers farmer members. It will source ingredients, machinery, animal health products, fertiliser, feed and agrochemicals, among other items.
In return, First Milk Direct will offer Anglia Farmers' dairy members access to a range of products including cluster exchange schemes, bedding and bulk tanks. "This partnership provides our members with better buying power across a wider array of farm inputs and business products," said First Milk Direct sales and technical manager Willie Cuthbertson.
Meanwhile, First Milk also announced it would be increasing its standard milk price by 0.25ppl from 1 May for producers in its cheese, balancing and Highlands & Islands milk pools.
