Blackburn Rovers Football Club has been sold to Indian chicken processor Venky’s.
The £46m deal hands control of the Premier League club to a company with annual revenues of £1bn.
Venky’s is part of the Venkateshwara Hatcheries Group and is Asia’s largest poultry business. It was founded in 1971 and supplies chicken to KFC and McDonald’s in Asia. It also operates pet food and pharmaceutical divisions.
“A series of meetings, including discussions with the Premier League, have followed an extensive due-diligence process,” said Blackburn Rovers chairman John Williams.
“Both parties are hopeful that the transaction will be completed in November.”
