A former police officer has launched what she claims in the UK’s first range of frozen curry sauces.
Spiced by Rayeesa was created by Rayeesa Asghar-Sandys as an offshoot of her cookery school Rayeesa’s Indian Kitchen. Launched in June and available in about 55 independents, the range includes four flavours: rogan josh, dopiaza, makhani and passande.
The sauces come in 275g packs (rsp: £3.75), which serve two to three people. All four are gluten free and vegetarian, while the rogan josh and dopiaza are vegan.
“Seeing that Indian food is so fully engrained in our UK food culture, I wanted to offer a simple, healthy and totally fresh experience as a new way of enjoying a fabulous curry at home,” said Asghar-Sandys.
“My recipes are not only full of flavour, but also low in fat, sugar and salt. The product is a spearhead for the newly forming luxury frozen food market; it offers health and convenience, along with full flavour, for the busy person who still wants to experience an outstanding home dining experience.”
