The proposed sale of Irish fruit importer Fyffes to Japan’s Sumitomo has cleared another hurdle after the deal received EC competition clearance.
Fyffes said the EC had determined it would “not oppose the acquisition of the Company by Swordus Ireland Holding Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sumitomo Corporation”.
The decision completes the competition clearances required for the €751m (£641m) transaction to be approved.
