Good Hemp is to launch what it says is the UK’s first CBD plant-based milk.
The CBD Barista Seed Milk is set to contain 60mg of full-spectrum CBD, which works out at about 7.5mg per serve.
Also containing Omega-3 and 6, the product is said to be “the perfect partner for coffee” as it has a creamy texture, “foaming properties” and does not split in hot drinks.
It will roll out into Planet Organic and will also be available from Good Hemp’s website from 1 November (rsp: £4/litre).
“CBD is a natural extension to our plant-based milks range,” said Good Hemp MD David Shaw.
“We’ve been using the whole hemp plant to make oils, plant milks and protein powder for 20 years now. We have a trusted voice in this category.
“Overlay that with the plant-based milk category growing at such a pace and the [increased] consciousness around sustainability – everything just feels right for us.”
Shaw claimed consumer feedback has trumpeted the health benefits of Good Hemp’s current CBD products, with people talking of having “success” with issues around sleep, concentration and anxiety.
The CBD Barista Seed Milk will also be joined by two further SKUs “before the end of the year”, including a standard Seed Milk along with a chocolate variant.
The firm has undergone major changes over the past year since private equity investor Inverleith bought a majority shareholding in a ‘seven-figure’ deal in August 2018.
After a brand and packaging relaunch earlier in the year, Good Hemp has also invested “a significant amount of money” into its Devon-based operation. This includes the hiring of an almost entirely new sales and marketing team, as well as technical expertise.
“We have set ourselves up to enable a very significant level of growth in the business over the next three to four years,” added Shaw.
“Investment into our site was a major factor in being able to launch our new milks as well as the CBD variants.”
