Greencore has teamed up with Indian restaurant Cinnamon Kitchen to launch a range of premium chilled cooking sauces.
Cinnamon Kitchen At Home, which rolled into 208 Waitrose stores on an exclusive basis last week, comprises four sauces - Cashew Nut Korma, Tomato & Fenugreek Makhani, Kerala Curry and Goan Spiced Vindaloo (rsp: £2.29)
Featuring on-pack recipe tips, the range had been developed to offer shoppers a chance to enjoy an “Indian fine-dining experience” at home, said head of licensing brands at Greencore Gemma Whitmore.
The sauces, which can be heated with meat or vegetables or used as a basis for more complex dishes, would plug a gap in the market for “truly authentic” chilled curry sauces, added Whitmore.
“While the chilled sauce category has seen significant growth, there is still limited choice for shoppers outside of pasta sauces, stocks and gravies,” she said.
The launch is being supported with social media and in-store activity.
