Gü Puds has begun building a second factory to increase capacity following the appointment of managing director Sarah Baldwin.
Part of the Noble Foods Group, the new 100,000 sq ft Gü facility in Bishop’s Stortford is expected to open in summer 2017 and will create 100 jobs in the area. The expansion is part of Baldwin’s “next chapter” for Gü, which will see more innovation from the brand.
“We can really start to build on the current growth we’ve already had with Gü in terms of bringing further innovation, new capacity and hopefully take us to the next stage of growth ambition,” said Baldwin, who was appointed in September from Arla Foods.
The development follows the roll-out of a four-strong range of 50g pots in September, which was the brand’s first venture into the food-to-go category.
Baldwin has also been tasked with developing the Gü brand in Europe, particularly in the French market, despite the UK’s decision to leave the EU.
“Does anyone know what Brexit is at this point in time? I don’t think it’s had any major impact,” she said. “Business is as usual for us.”
