Halal food brand Haloodies has scored a raft of major retail listings for its ready to eat cooked chicken range - and is now available in over 300 stores nationwide.
Sainsbury’s launched five SKUs from the Haloodies range, which is made with 100% chicken breast and aimed at “millennial Muslims”, in 110 Sainsbury’s stores last week.
Tesco, which introduced seven Haloodies cooked chicken SKUs in 46 stores in late July, rolled the range out into 200 stores nationwide earlier this month. It also launched another line, Red Thai Skewers, into a limited number of stores.
Haloodies also launched another six lines with AmazonFresh, having made its debut on the online platform with 16 lines in June 2016.
The chilled cooked chicken segment was “relatively new” for halal consumers and Haloodies offered a “compelling alternative” to existing products made with mechanically separated meats high in preservatives, said Haloodies co-founder Imran Kausar.
Haloodies wanted to be a “mainstream halal brand aimed at millennials” and was targeting mainstream supermarkets rather than just ethnic supermarkets, he added.
