Iceland has launched its nationwide campaign to acquire stores, writing to property agents enquiring about leasehold, freehold and joint development opportunities.
It is targeting 123 towns in the UK as potential sites for store acquisitions, including Northern Ireland and central London.
Property consultants Mason Owen are acting for Iceland in the matter. In a letter issued this week, the frozen food chain states that it requires 20 new stores this year with ground floor sales space of between 4,000 and 5,000 sq ft “from high streets to suburban and neighbourhood parades”.
After selling 28 stores to M&S in January, Iceland announced that it believed there were at least 60 towns that could benefit from a store.
