Iceland has recruited 1980s kids’ ‘TV legend’ Timmy Mallett to be its ‘chief ice lolly tester’ in a series of online videos.
The ‘zany’ host will taste and rate Iceland’s exclusive range of ‘retro sweet shop favourites’ including Cola Bottles, Sherbet Dip Dab and Blackjack flavours, all from Barratt Ice Cream.
Mallett, who presented Wide Awake Club and Wacaday in the ‘80s, will also review Milk Bottles, Fruit Salad and Nougat, awarding marks in ‘squillions’.
The first three three-minute videos went live on the Iceland Foods YouTube channel this morning and are to be followed by more dropping weekly on the platform, as well as on Instagram and TikTok.
“I’m so utterly excited to be Iceland’s chief ice lolly tester! Who would have thought that trying lollies would be so much fun?” said Mallett.
“After trying and testing the whole Barratt range, I just have to say the flavours are brilliant and the fruit salad is the same colour as my mallet!”
