Asda is launching a PorkLink scheme next January, to support its pig farmers. The move follows the recent announcement of a Beef Link scheme supporting beef producers.
Caviar approval
All caviar sold in the UK must now be carry a label showing it is approved by the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species. Caviar without these labels is illegal and can be seized by Customs officers.
Dioxin only in boar
In an EU-wide survey of 156 different food products, only one sample, wild boar meat, was found to contain dioxins in the UK. Dioxins are thought to have a range of toxic effects in humans and animals.
