Posh Indian craft gin Jaisalmer has made its UK debut.
The tipple (43% abv) is distilled in the Himalayas by Indian company Radico Khaitan, which also makes Rampur Indian Single Malt Whisky. It is made with 11 botanicals designed to showcase tastes from across India, such as coriander, vetiver, cubeb pepper, lemongrass, darjeeling tea leaves and lemon peel (rsp: £35.45/70cl).
It tasted “like an oasis in the desert and we describe it as a drink fit for royalty, harking back to the imperial age of the maharajas and their moments of leisure and pleasure”, said the brand. “Jaisalmer also makes an excellent base for exotic gin cocktails.”
Radico Khaitan was “excited about the heritage behind the brand as well as the Indian craftmanship our master distiller uses”, said its president for international business Sanjeev Banga.
It has launched into The Whisky Exchange, with further retail listings to follow in the lead-up to Christmas.
