A Leicestershire Indian restaurant chain is launching a range of frozen ready meals in Asda this month.

The family-owned business set up The Tiffin Food Company to develop the eight-strong curry brand following customer demand.

The range, also be available in Budgens, Landmark, delicatessens and farm shops, is hand-prepared using fresh local ingredients and contains no artificial colours or preservatives.

Positioned at the premium end of the market, it consists of five chicken-based meals, including jalfrezi and tikka masala options, a chilli paneer dish, a vegetable curry and a saag aloo. Each 340g microwaveable portion is priced at £3.39 and has an eight-month shelf life.

The range was inspired by requests from customers of The Tiffin, said founder Monica Parmar, daughter of restaurant owner Pravin Parmar.

"The meals are made using exactly the same recipes and techniques used in our restaurant," she added.
