Kelly Osbourne is to be the face of Walkers' corn snack brand Doritos in two new TV commercials.
Due to hit the small screen on Monday (March 17), the ads back the relaunch of the small bag format and the arrival of new Extreme Chilli Heatwave flavour. Improved Tangy Cheese and Cool Original variants are also a focus.
The £1m campaign ties in with the brand's ongoing Friendchips ad series and shows the budding pop diva, daughter of rock wild man Ozzy, munching Doritos with her band while her new single Come dig me out' plays at full volume.
The usual 20-something Friendchips crew, who are on the floor below, ask for the volume to be turned down. When they realise it is Kelly causing the racket they try and fail to act cool'.
Meanwhile, the bagged snacks giant has been forced to announce the launch of a new range of crisps featuring popular takeaway flavours ahead of schedule after a paparazzi photographer sneaked a shot of a new Bollywood-style ad starring brand ambassador Gary Lineker last weekend.
A spokesman said new products would be available from the beginning of July but would not confirm flavour details. However, insiders say these will be based on popular Indian and Chinese takeaway dishes, with Chicken Tikka Masala a strong contender.
The ad will show Lineker dressed as a maharajah and sitting on an elephant, marrying Granny from TV comedy The Kumars at no 42.
n Walkers has denied any plans to follow its US parent Frito-Lay's lead in launching four Doritos Toppers Tortilla Snacks. The microwaveable snack chips are said to deliver strong flavours when warmed.
