JNCK Bakery makes HFSS-compliant cookies, with 90% less sugar than traditional products

‘Healthy’ cookie company JNCK Bakery has raised more £200k from the crowd to support its recent launch into Tesco.

In September, JNCK became one of Tesco’s latest recruits for its new Accelerator Programme, which gave the company a national listing at the UK’s biggest supermarket.

The business was set up by brothers Alex and Sean Brassill, who brought out the non-HFSS cookies last year.

The pair spent two years developing the product after recognising rising demand for healthier treats. JNCK products are HFSS-compliant, with 90% less sugar than standard cookies and 8g protein per cookie.

It will use the money from the Crowdcube campaign - which continues to overfund after hitting its £200k target - to support the Tesco launch, expand exposure to the foodservice channel and develop new products.

The bakery has now raised more than £750k in the past two years, including a £300k raise at the start of 2023 and a recent £250k from private investors.

Alongside Tesco, JNCK also has regional listings in Boost and Soho Coffee. The cookies cost £3.95 for a pack of three, and are available in three flavours: Milky Chocolate, Trippple Chocolate, and White Gold.

“We believe the food industry has to take more accountability for improving the nutrition of the nation – but that doesn’t mean people should be denied tasty treats,” said Sean Brassill.

“We’re just getting started on our journey and investors who join us will be helping to remove 800 tonnes of sugar from the UK supply chain over the next three years.”

JNCK also sells through wholesale and online, with plans to grow across grocery, coffee shops, and foodservice.
