John West has announced it will launch new On The Go tuna pots into leading supermarkets over the next few months.
The NPD is available in four variants; Mediterranean Tuna Cous Cous Pot, Indian Tuna Rice Pot, Thai Tuna Noodle Pot and Italian Tuna Pasta Pot.
The range will launch in May in Sainsbury’s, Ocado and Amazon, in Tesco in June, and in Asda in July.
The pots each contain at least 18g of protein, which the brand hopes will meet increased consumer demand for healthy food options.
It argued the NPD would be “transformative” for the pot category as the brand found that “consumers currently limit their intake of pot snacks as they’re perceived as unhealthy”.
The new line is the latest addition to the On The Go range following the launch of Super Salads last year.
“John West On the Go Tuna Pots make natural protein more accessible,” said Jon Burton, international marketing director, John West Foods.
“The combination of tuna, a range of carbohydrate options and popular province-led flavours that consumers know and like, is a welcome addition to the category and demonstrates it can be delicious, nutritious and exciting all at the same time.”
John West is launching a multichannel marketing campaign to support On the Go Tuna Pots, with TV, social, PR, paid digital and shopper activity, including online sampling, running from July to September.
