As if top-down bottles were not enough of a format change, ketchup is now available grated, thanks to a French company.
Ingredients supplier AB Technologies Alimentaires is launching Ketcho' into UK retail channels under the brand name France Fromage. Made from 60% ketchup and 14% cheese, the product comes grated in a 150g bag and is aimed at in-home use in sandwiches and as a topping for meals. It also comes in a sliced format. The product has already been launched in Carrefour stores in France.
The company is also bringing out cheese spreads for use as dips, snacks or in recipes. Variants include Roquefort, Camembert and Brie, as well as goat's cheese and herb flavours.
The company already produces a children's cheese snack for one of the major UK multiples' own labels.
