Kingsmill has started baking bagels to cash in on a growing demand for premium bakery snacks.
Beautiful Bagels are plain bagels that will be available in the major multiples and convenience sector, while a Cinnamon & Raisin variant will be launched in the multiples next month (rsp: £1.05 for four).
Kingsmill’s portfolio already includes Scrumptious Crumpets, Magnificent Muffins and Perfect Pancakes.
It hopes that its new product will
take a slice of the £21m bagel market (ACNielsen, 52 w/e January 30 2005).
Beautiful Bagels will benefit from new point-of-sale material and an introductory trial price - depending on the retailer.
“The new bagels are a fantastic extension to our bakery snacks range,” said Lawrence Trist, commercial development leader at Allied Bakeries. “Kingsmill is a top 10 brand and the new bagels will allow retailers to benefit both from trading up and incremental sales.”
