Lily’s Kitchen is to give away at least 100 tonnes of petfood as part of a new aid initiative for dog and cat charities.
Called Dinner’s On Us, the new drive, which runs from this month until the end of April, will see the equivalent of about 650,000 meals being donated to organisations nominated by members of the public via the Lily’s Kitchen website. Visitors can also see the number of meals that have been donated at that given time and view images from the charities that have been helped.
The move – the first stage of Acts Of Goodness, a wider charity programme from the brand – follows Lily’s Kitchen securing certification from B Lab, a global non-profit body that recognises for-profit enterprises’ social and environmental activism.
“Nothing saddens us more than a pet in need, and nothing brings more joy to us than helping less fortunate pets when we are able to,” said Lily’s Kitchen founder and CEO Henrietta Morrison.
“There are thousands of wonderful organisations, events, and people in the UK quietly doing great work to support pets in need, and we want to recognise and applaud their efforts.”
She added: “These animals are in need of a really good meal. Many arrive at shelters in a terrible physical state. We’re happy that we can do a little to help them back on the road to recovery. Our foods are full of natural nourishment, which helps to promote fur regrowth, a shiny coat and healthy skin, as well as helping the overall health of each animal, too.”
