Londis is launching what it claims is the first complete convenience store training package for staff from June this year.
The scheme has been designed in partnership with Belmont House and was unveiled at the Londis Retailing 2002 shows this week.
Londis stores will be able to access as many training programmes from the package for as many staff as they want for £300 plus VAT per year.
Modules have been designed to benefit all Londis staff, from team members to store owners and managers.
Staff can gain NVQ qualifications, food hygiene and handling certificates and customer service certificates through the programme.
Training is conducted on-the-job by college assessors, with staff completing workbook exercises at home.
Martin Howell, Belmont House account manager for the south, explained: "The retailer handles the induction of trainees, then the training is completely managed by us.
"The programme is designed to improve staff efficiency, which will obviously have an impact on sales and productivity."
Howell added: "Belmont House is also linked to the ACS and is developing training packages for Spar, Costcutter and other convenience store groups.
"The Londis Retailing shows have been a phenomenal success for us and we have developed a lot of leads through them."
