The Scottish meat industry has been given a welcome boost from the cash and carry sector.
Leading operator Makro has agreed a deal with ABP to stock both Specially Selected Scotch lamb and beef in all 29 of it's UK depots.
The deal, which went live this week, is the first time both ranges have been sold together in a single cash and carry chain and the products will be sold as Makro Specially Selected Scotch beef and lamb.
Tim Browne, national account manager for ABP, said: "We are delighted to have secured this prestigious contract with Makro to supply them exclusively with Scotch beef and lamb."
Quality Meat Scotland has funded the design of the pack labels and supporting PoS material created specifically for Makro.
Alasdair Muir, managing director of Quality Meat Scotland, said: "The Makro deal is a fantastic acknowledgement of the strength of the Specially Selected marque, and opens doors for us with new consumers throughout the UK."
Makro's meat buyer Warren Hamer said: "We are always looking for new quality products which will appeal to our customer base."
