Mars Chocolate is expanding its range of price-marked packs (PMPs) with the addition of six of its key single-serve SKUs.
Five of the PMPs, priced at 50p, are available from this week: Maltesers single, Mars, Snickers, Twix and Bounty. The sixth, a Maltesers Teasers single, will follow from 25 January.
The supplier already offers PMPs for products such as Galaxy sharing bars and treat bags of Maltesers and M&M’s.
“Retailers not only see PMPs as better value for themselves and their customers, but also as a key footfall driver, attracting more shoppers to store and ultimately generating sales growth,” said Mars Chocolate UK trade communications manager Bep Dhaliwal.
“As shoppers continue to look for the best deals on their favourite chocolate confectionery, price-marked packs now account for 60% of sales at independent stores and we expect to see this trend rise again in 2016.”
The five brands have seen varying performances this year, ranging from Snickers, sales of which are up 7.9% to £81.4m, to Twix, which is down 7.2% to £49.6m [Nielsen 52 w/e 5 September 2015].
