Dairy processor Meadow Foods has launched a new business providing a range of products to wholesalers, caterers and restaurant businesses.
Sold under the Green Valley Dairy brand, the range will include full and low-fat soft cheese, mascarpone, crème fraiche, set soured cream and sweetened condensed milk, and will be sold directly to foodservice, wholesale and distributors in 1kg, 2kg and 5kg containers as individual units or in multipacks.
The new brand was the “logical progression for the business as it opens new markets and opportunities for our quality dairy products”, said Mark Chantler, MD of Meadow Foods’ ingredients business.
“We intend to run Green Valley Dairy as an independent brand to Meadow Foods, whilst still using our business’ proven experience and expertise in the dairy sector,” he added. “We’re excited by the opportunity that Green Valley Dairy presents in capturing the premium yet affordable end of the foodservice marketplace.”
The new products will be manufactured at the company’s factory in Holme-on-Spalding-Moor in East Yorkshire, and will be distributed through Meadow Foods’ established UK-wide chilled distribution network.
The processor announced a £31.8m investment in processing capacity at its Chester creamery in January to manufacture and store skimmed and blended concentrated milks for the first time, and posted a 15.6% increase in operating profit for the year to 31 March 2014, with sales up 23% to £420.7 million.
