Aldi has been defeated by drinks company Thatchers in a legal battle over a copycat cloudy lemon cider (Telegraph), a story reported first by The Grocer yesterday. In a ruling from the Court of Appeal, Aldi was found to have infringed trademark rights by designing an own label cider that would remind customers of a rival product from Thatchers (BBC).

Morrisons has taken out a High Court injunction preventing anyone from protesting at its sites. It comes after dozens of farmers angry at inheritance tax reforms and food prices blocked roads outside the supermarket’s distribution depot in Bridgewater, Somerset, on 10 January (Sky News).
