Mondelez has named company long-timer Vinzenz Gruber as its new executive vice president and president for Europe, to replace Hubert Weber, who has retired after many years with the business
Gruber (who goes by Vince) has worked in fmcg since 1989, when he joined the Austrian arm of Kraft Foods. He held various marketing positions, including marketing director for Austria, before moving to Red Bull in 2000 to be managing director for new business.
After almost seven years with the energy drink giant, Gruber rejoined Kraft Foods as category director for chocolate for Germany, Austria, Switzerland and global travel retail.
He later became European president for chocolate and then area president for western Europe, having stayed with the part of the business that span off in 2012 to become Mondelez.
In his new role, based in Zurich, Gruber has responsibility across all snacking categories in Mondelez’s largest region, which had a £7.5bn turnover in 2018 and includes major brands such as Oreo, Belvita, Tuc, Milka, Côte d’Or and Toblerone.
He will also shape and drive the new Mondelez ‘Snacking Made Right’ strategy – which aims “to empower people to snack right by offering the right snack, made the right way, for the right moment”.
‘Snacking Made Right’ was “a strong strategic plan that will guide our actions in the years ahead and lead us towards sustained and profitable growth” Gruber said. “I feel honoured to lead such an excellent European team, and look forward to creating the future of snacking.”
