Now that's what they call fresh! Thieves north of the Border have taken the law into their own hands - quite literally. Two cardboard cut-outs of policemen have been half-inched from Morrisons' West Langlands Street supermarket in Kilmarnock.

The officers were placed in the store as a deterrent to shoplifters, apparently, though quite why Morrisons thought this would work is anyone's guess. Maybe they were expecting cardboard cut-out thieves.

Morrisons is offering £100- worth of "quality fresh fruit and veg" for the safe return of these dummies. Good thing this doesn't happen every day.
