Morrisons is offering a budget three-course Christmas dinner for office parties and large groups to cater for cash-strapped workers and small businesses.
The supermarket’s cafés will serve two and three-course festive menus for tables of up to 20 guests from 25 November to 23 December.
Options on the menu, which costs £7.50 for three courses and £6.50 for two, include prawn cocktail starters, British turkey and all the trimmings and traditional Christmas pudding with custard, alongside a vegan and vegetarian offering.
Christmas range preview: Pret, Costa, Starbucks and Greggs launch festive menus
The Christmas meal deal has been created in response to new independent research that showed 70% of UK workers expected cutbacks to their work parties this year, because of tough trading conditions, economic uncertainty and fragile confidence.
“Some small businesses have had a tough year, so we have created the best Christmas meal for those on a budget,” said Helen Tordoff, head of cafés at Morrisons.
“And as our cafés regularly host group meet-ups, we thought we’d extend the invite to local companies so they can save some Christmas costs. It will mean that more people can get into the party spirit without breaking the bank.”
