Safeway claimed to have kicked off a new round of petrol price cuts this week, reducing the price of a litre of unleaded by 2p. Customers spending more than £40 at the checkout will also get a further 5p reduction per litre at the pumps. Tesco immediately knocked 2p off a litre, while Sainsbury and Asda claimed they had already pushed through cuts. All the multiples now claim a UK average price of 71.9p a litre. {{NEWS }}
