Nairn’s has ramped up its activity in free-from with the reformulation of two snack ranges and the opening of a £6.5m gluten-free facility.
The Scottish brand’s revamped Astro Bites for children will roll out this month as gluten-free in Berry, Cheese and Chocolate Chip (rsp: £1.85/5x23g). The change came in response to parents’ unhappiness about lack of choice in gluten-free snacks for their young ones, said Nairn’s.
The lineup will be joined on shelf by an overhauled Snackers range, carrying a gluten-free claim for the first time across Cheese, Sea Salt & Balsamic Vinegar, and the new Smoked Paprika, which replaces Caramelised Onion (rsp: £1.85/5x23g).
Both relaunches follow the opening of Nairn’s latest gluten-free manufacturing operation in Newtongrange, Midlothian, after other free-from sites reaching production capacity due to increased demand following the brand’s entry into the category seven years ago.
