South West foodservice wholesaler N&B Foods has acquired a depot in Exeter from the administrators of DBC Foodservice.
The site will be N&B’s third and starts trading on 2 July. N&B also bought 11 vehicles as part of a £3m investment.
Operations manager Steve Fox said N&B would use the site to expand into the fish and chips and café market.
“By maintaining a stronghold in the fast food market and expanding into new linked markets, we feel business will grow in the near future,” he said.
N&B, which offers a discount for customer collections, has adapted the 42,000 sq ft site to include a pick up point and a customer consultation area.
The company has hired 10 ex-DBC staff to work at the site. “I am a great believer in staff training to ensure customers receive high standards, and the employment of experienced former DBC staff will help drive the business,” Fox said.
N&B turns over £24m from its Swindon and Reading depots. Exeter is the first of DBC’s four freehold depots to sell. Administrators from Baker Tilly said they had received interest in the remaining three.
