All About Food is giving its Nando's brand a shake-up that includes NPD and improved recipes to cash in on Britain's ongoing love affair with spicy foods.
The company, which also makes supermarket pizzas for Pizza Express, is adding medium and extra hot peri-peri variants (rsp: £1.89) to its marinade menu.
"We are seeing a clear continuation of the trend for spicing things up," said MD Phil Lynas. "The UK has become a nation of heat-seekers, with more than 42% of consumers now enjoying spicy foods on a regular basis at home or when eating out."
The new products will roll out into Tesco and Morrisons from April and will be joined on-shelf by relaunched Nando's table sauces. Salt content in the peri-peri tomato and BBQ sauces has been cut to comply with 2010 FSA guidelines while a stylish packaging overhaul aims to provide a more consistent look across the range.
