Australian Vintage CEO Neil McGuigan has stepped down.
McGuigan was CEO of Australian Vintage for nine years, having joined the business in 2004 as GM of wine supply.
He will depart his role at the McGuigan brand owner’s AGM in November, starting a new role as technical advisor.
He will be replaced by Craig Garvin, currently CEO of dairy manufacturer Parmalat.
McGuigan had “transformed [the business] into a well-respected branded wine company with a clear focus on developing world-leading quality wine”, said Australian Vintage chairman Richard Davis.
Indeed, the McGuigan brand has outperformed many of its rivals over past years, and is currently the third-largest wine brand in the off-trade, with value sales of £163.7m this year, up 10.9% [Nielsen 52 w/e 20 April 2019].
McGuigan said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as CEO, working with our talented team to create fantastic brands that are enjoyed around the globe.”
His successor, Garvin, had “built strong, diverse teams with a focus on collaborative cultural creation”, added Davis.
