The Meat and Livestock Commission has reported a rise in sales on the back of its advertising campaign fronted by Harry Enfield's character Tim Nice But Dim.
The MLC said during the autumn (while the ad was on air) that total beef sales rose by 8.1% compared with the same period in 1999. It added that lamb sales increased by 5.8%, while lamb for frying or grilling rose by 10.6%. The Tim Nice But Dim ads return to TV screens during February.
The MLC is also sending out new PoS material to independent butchers to support the TV advertising. This will include another of Tim's simple recipes: Cheat's Mediterranean Mince.
