One Stop is scrapping its own-label range to replace it with Tesco’s core own brand, The Grocer can reveal.
Starting on 21 October, the Tesco subsidiary will roll out the new own-label range in phases across its 1,000 company-owned and franchise stores, dubbing it a “game-changer” for retailers.
The first phase will see 26 new SKUs added across the meat, fish and poultry categories. This will be followed by 72 produce lines in January, bolstered with another 137 products spanning prepared foods, bakery, dairy and frozen by April.
Later in the year will see 70 SKUs from the grocery category added, followed by ongoing range development.
One Stop said the “transformative move” will enable its franchise partners to leverage on Tesco’s “national trusted brand”, providing an expanded range of “healthier and affordable” options.
It added it would give retailers a competitive edge to enhance their customer proposition, increasing footfall and basket size, while benefiting from Tesco’s extensive market research and product innovation.
The new range will be available on One Stop’s home delivery platforms as well, which are Deliveroo, Just Eat, Uber Eats and Snappy Shopper.
“This is an incredibly exciting time for us at One Stop,” said One Stop MD Stephanie Wood. “Customers’ shopping habits are changing, and the rise of the convenience market has seen unprecedented growth.
“The attraction of Tesco’s core own-brand range in One Stop will elevate our customers’ quality perception with a brand they trust, which offers choice that is affordable and convenient to them.
“It will also enable our franchisees to offer their local communities a broader and more competitive range with high-quality, healthier and trusted products. We’re unlocking incredible growth potential for them while continuing to provide all our franchisees with advanced technology, top-tier support and market-leading promotions.”
One Stop had previously leveraged the Tesco brand in 2022 by revamping the packaging on its own-label chilled lines with a ‘Selected by Tesco’ stamp. This will consequently be removed as the new own label is introduced to stores.
