Leading independent retailer Paul Stone has seen his vape sales increase fourfold since stocking the Juul range.
Manchester-based Stone has seen an uplift in vape sales in his flagship Oxford Road Spar store from an average of £250 to £1,000 per week since stocking the Juul products in April.
Stone told The Grocer Juul has revolutionised his e-cigarette sales, praising the simplicity of the product. Sales are “easily double” across Stone’s four other city centre stores.
“As a retailer, I am always looking for categories and products that will add to my customer offer and increase profitability,” said Stone. “Prior to stocking Juul, my e-cigarette sales at the store were static - running at less than £250 per week. Since introducing Juul, sales have risen significantly, and last week vape sales in the store had increased fourfold to almost £1,000.
“This is the best week ever for vaping sales and was largely driven by Juul, which accounted for 85% of all e-cigarette sales with both starter kits and pods selling extremely well.”

Juul was launched into the independent convenience sector in March following previous listings with Sainsbury’s and Boots.
“Paul is proof of the positive impact that Juul can bring to a convenience store,” said Juul Labs UK sales director John Patterson. “At Juul we want to improve the lives of the UK’s 7.4 million adult smokers by helping them switch to less harmful alternatives, and are extremely aware of the role that convenience store owners can play in helping us achieve this.
“Adult smokers, willing to make the switch, expect to see smoking alternatives in stores where they traditionally purchase their cigarettes and that is why convenience is a major channel for Juul.
“Stocking Juul is a win-win for independent retailers as it not only delivers increased margins compared to cigarettes, but also helps their customers make the switch from combustible cigarettes, which are the single largest cause of preventable death in the UK.”
