PayPoint

The service will be available at stores including McColl’s, Spar and One Stop

PayPoint has gone live with a strategic partnership with eBay to give the online marketplace access to its Collect+ network’s click & collect services in time for peak parcel season.

It sees the eBay click & collect service become available at 2,500 retailers, including independents, symbol and multiple stores, including Nisa, McColl’s, Spar and One Stop.

PayPoint commercial director Lewis Alcraft said the savviest retailers recognised the opportunity convenient parcel services represented as a great way of enticing people into stores.

“We are delighted that the eBay click & collect service is now up and running in 2,500 stores in time for the busiest online trading period of the year.”

EBay UK vice-president Rob Hattrell said 24 million customers shopped with the online portal every month and it wanted to make it as convenient as possible for them to get what they were looking for.

“Our partnership with Collect+ is a great boost to our delivery options, giving customers thousands more locations to choose from when they are shopping,” he said.

PayPoint retailers have welcomed the new partnership. Paul Cheema, co-owner of Nisa retailer Malcolm’s Stores in Coventry, called it “a fantastic addition” to the Collect+ service.

“This will definitely attract new and different types of customers to our store.”

Dee Sedani, a One Stop franchisee in Etwall, Derbyshire, said: “As we approach Christmas, eBay and Collect+ should make a real difference to our store and our customers. This is a really positive move and another benefit of having PayPoint in our stores.”

The news comes as PayPoint continues to roll out its PayPoint One terminal, delivering cloud-based EPoS technology, contactless card payments and PayPoint services such as bill payments as well as the Collect+ parcel service.

PayPoint plans to retire its legacy terminals at the end of next year, but potentially earlier depending on how quickly the new all-in-one retail services platform is universally embraced.
