PizzaExpress Pod

Pizza Express has unveiled a new ‘pizza pod’ grab & go concept for customers on the go.

The new concept will consist of a metal container with an open space kitchen, where customers can place their order and collect it from a collection window.

The first Pizza Express pod will begin its trial outside the entrance of the Bursledon Hamble Lane Tesco Extra in Southampton.

It will offer a selection of core lines including the American Hot and Padana pizzas.

Customers will be able to pair their pizza with a soft drink for £9.95 for lunch, and Tesco Clubcard members will be able to use their points to buy the pizzas.

The brand said it is pushing its food-to-go offer to reach more customers, after a “year of growth” and expansion for the pizza maker.

“2024 has been a year of growth and new openings, and we’re showing no signs of slowing down as we come into the festive season,” said Pizza Express CEO Paula MacKenzie.

“Not only have our three new pizzerias across the country – London Gatwick, Oxford Summertown, and The ICC in Birmingham – been a huge hit, but now our Pizza Express Pod brings something completely new and eye-catching for our pizza lovers and Tesco-goers.”

Tesco assets and estate director Simon Williams added: “We’re always looking for ways to serve our customers better and help make their shop even more convenient.

“We were delighted to work with Pizza Express to develop the exciting new Pizza Express Pod concept at our Southampton Extra, making it even easier for our customers to grab a bite to eat when they pop in to do their weekly shop.”
