Premier Foods has upped its dessert game, adding a pudding pot duo for Ambrosia and a choc-mint variant for Angel Delight.
The ambient pots, Belgian Chocolate & Salted Caramel Sauce and Belgian Chocolate & Mint Fondant Sauce (rsp: £1.59/2x110g), rolled into Tesco, Asda and Morrisons today (23 January).
They are joined on shelf at Tesco by Angel Delight Chocolate Mint (rsp: 90p/4x59g).
The three new SKUs were non-HFSS and would “help meet consumer demand for healthier, convenient dessert snack options”, said Premier.
The expansion of the supplier’s dessert offer “looks to help grow the ambient category by appealing to both new and current shoppers who are looking for different and on-trend chocolate flavour options when snacking,” added brand director for desserts Dan Jalalpour. Plus, the ambient treats “don’t require refrigeration, meaning they are fresher for longer and help to reduce waste”.
The launch comes a year after Premier took Ambrosia out of its dessert heartland and into breakfast. In January 2022, the brand unveiled a three-strong range of ready-to-eat porridge.
Around the same time, Angel Delight went into frozen with soft-serve ice cream duo Strawberry and Butterscotch, exclusively for Iceland. The former variant was shortlisted in the desserts category of The Grocer’s New Product Awards 2022.
