Canned food giant Princes has launched a direct to consumer delivery service for front line workers.
The brand’s £10 ‘Hero Pack’ is available during the course of the coronavirus lockdown to holders of the Blue Light discount card used by members of the emergency services – including NHS staff, social care workers, police and armed forces personnel.
The boxes contain a variety of Princes products, including a three-pack of tuna chunks in spring water, a tomato and herb mackerel sizzle, mackerel fillets, reduced salt corned beef, peach slices, black cherry fruit filling and Princes orange juice.
Orders can be placed immediately through www.princesheropacks.co.uk with free-of-charge delivery expected within three days.
“We have been truly humbled by the work of those on the front line during the coronavirus pandemic,” said Princes group director for foods and marketing Ruth Simpson.
“It’s clear that they will have little time to shop, and so we wanted to create a service that would deliver a special selection of our favourite products direct to them. We hope the range of products provides peace of mind that they will be able to make nutritious, convenient and tasty meals outside their working hours.”
The launch of the service in such a short space of time had been a “significant challenge” for Princes, added Simpson, who thanked staff, agency workers and packaging company DS Smith for their support in creating the boxes.
The supplier has also supported NHS staff through the distribution of water bottles to the new Nightingale Hospitals, and has been involved in the government’s food parcel scheme for the clinically vulnerable.
A partnership with FareShare has also seen the brand provide tens of thousands of products to food banks across the country.
