Spar has unwrapped its Christmas own-label alcohol portfolio, including the retailer’s first premium own-label sparkling wine.
Prosecco Speciale (£9), which comes in a flute-shaped bottle to convey its premium credentials, will be rolled out across the Spar estate on 24 October.
The Speciale would encourage shoppers to trade up from the retailer’s “hugely successful” Perlezza Prosecco, said head of brand Cath Mcllwham, and is expected to bring Spar an extra £350,000 in retail sales, she added. “As shoppers more frequently trade up to premium products during the festive season - either for themselves or as gifts - the launch of our Prosecco Speciale will come at just the right time.”
It will be joined on shelf by Irish Cream (£5/70cl), Glen Dhu Whisky (£11.85/70cl), and a mix of red and white wines such as Rios de los Andes Malbec (£6/75cl) and Fern Hills Sauvignon Blanc (£6/75cl). A Perlezza Prosecco chocolate gift pack (rsp: £5) completes the line-up.
The entire festive range had been chosen to offer “credible, great-tasting drinks at excellent value”, said Mcllwham.
