Organic produce box supplier Riverford has launched a ‘packaging-free’ veg box which will come without punnets, bags and rubber bands.
The new ‘Zero’ box contains eight seasonal vegetables every week (rsp: £15.35), with produce requiring packaging, such as leafy salads and cherry tomatoes, not offered.
“Customers asked for a plastic-free veg box; we’re really pleased to have gone one step further, creating a packaging-free box of loose veg,” said Luke King, Riverford’s commercial director.
The company’s veg boxes already use 82% less plastic than the equivalent organic produce in supermarkets.
