Italian food brand Sacla’ surprised shoppers in London’s John Lewis foodhall on Tuesday with an unexpected opera performance.
Five professional opera singers dressed as members of the public broke into a rendition of the song Funiculì, Funiculà.
Shopper’s reactions were captured by a six-strong camera crew who remained out of sight for the duration of the stunt.
Sacla’ UK MD Clare Blampied said: “Sacla’ aims to bring home the spirit of Italy, and inject some Italian passion and flair into the everyday lives of people in the UK – what better way to demonstrate this than with a Shopera?”
The company seems to be in a larky mood of late: on April Fool’s Day, it announced the ‘launch’ of Twitter-inspired Twitteroni pasta in the shape of hashtags and @ signs.
