Sainsbury will be stocking its popular Christmas wine duo again, after two years of strong sales for the products.
The Christmas Red and Christmas White wines, by wine producer and importer Boutinot, will be £6 a bottle.
Both are Vin de Pays French wines, offered as either Merlot or Chardonnay, and are packaged in eye-catching sleeved silver festive bottles.
Lee Middleton, Boutinot’s trade and marketing manager, said: “The decorative design makes it a useful addition to the Christmas table and the sleeving process allows us to almost gift wrap the bottle.”
The range was originally launched in 2003 and sales have doubled since the launch, said Boutinot. Sainsbury has already taken half the total production for the year.
“We identified an opportunity for a wine that could truly cross into the Christmas gifting category, which has seen significant growth over the past five years,” said Middleton.
Martell Cognac is launching a premium VSOP gift pack for Christmas. The pack, which contains a 35cl bottle of Martell VSOP Cognac and two Martell branded balloon glasses, is available in Sainsbury priced at £14.99.
Paragon Vintners is to represent family-owned Burgundy house Domaines Michel Picard in the UK. Additionally, wine distributor PLB Group is to represent Burgundian wine producer Antonin Rodet in the UK as from January 1, 2006.
Merrydown is offering consumers the chance to win a trip for two to London, including a night at the Waldorf Hilton hotel, lunch at the Savoy and dinner at Simpsons plus theatre tickets of their choice. Runners up will win pairs of cinema tickets to the new film Mrs Henderson Presents. The neck-collar promotion, in store now, runs across 100,000 bottles.
Cobra beer has signed a deal to become the first broadcast sponsor for ITV4. It is also extending its sponsorship of all movies on ITV2 and ITV3 for a further 12 months as part of a package estimated to be worth £1.2m.
