Sainsbury's is converting its own-label frozen pea supply to 100% British from the end of next month.
The supermarket, which was already 100% British on conventional peas, has now sourced an additional 350 tonnes of organic peas that were previously imported from Austria and Belgium. Sainsbury's sells 18 million packs of frozen peas a year.
"At a time of economic uncertainty, the move will provide job security and has given British growers the opportunity to expand their businesses," said a spokeswoman.
