Sainsbury’s is to stop selling tobacco in six further Scottish stores.

The retailer removed tobacco products from a convenience store and three supermarkets in Scotland earlier this year in the wake of a new tax imposed by the Scottish government.

From today, it will extend the move to a further six stores - in Drumchapel, Garthdee, Hamilton, Saltcoats, Livingston and Leven.

The Public Health Levy, introduced in April, applies to all stores that sell alcohol and tobacco with a ratable value of more than £300,000.
