Sainsbury’s is launching early morning home delivery slots in Scotland for the first time next month.
Customers ordering through the East Kilbride store will be able to secure slots from 8am - two hours earlier than currently available.
Slots had previously been restricted due to Scotland’s alcohol licensing laws, which ban the sale of alcohol before 10am. The trial will be open to orders not containing alcohol.
The early morning slots will initially only be available through the East Kilbride store, but will roll out further if the trial is successful.
“From next month, we will begin trialling new customer ordering functionality for deliveries from our East Kilbride store. It will give us the ability to deliver alcohol-free orders to customers between 8am-10am and orders containing alcohol from 10am, while remaining in line with Scottish licensing laws.” said director of online Clodagh Moriarty.
