Arla Foods' UK boss David Salkeld is leaving the company at the end of May to become group chief executive officer at Grampian Country Food Group.
As chief executive officer at Arla, Salkeld was responsible for developing its dairy business and dairy product categories through new product development and brand investment.
He has steered Arla's UK business through a joint venture with New Zealand Milk and the acquisition of speciality cheese firm HT Webb & Co in the past 18 months.
Grampian chairman Fred Duncan said: "We are delighted David has agreed to take this role. He has been very successful at Arla, refocusing the business around a detailed understanding of the category and shoppers' preferences." Arla Foods UK chairman Kim Nielsen added: "We understand fully David's wish to take up this position with Grampian. The move is the culmination of the impressive career he has had with Arla over the past eight years."
Salkeld will be replaced by Mikael Christiansen, who will move from his role as chief executive officer of Arla Foods International, based in Denmark, to Arla's UK offices. He will aim to continue to develop Arla's Stourton plant and the core business driven by Lurpak and Cravendale brands.
Christiansen said: "The business David joined in 1995 is in the strongest position it has known."
